Bio

Ben Snell's work will be presented in When the Computer Made Art, artxcode's group exhibition at CADAF, alongside works by Zach Bodtorf, Dmitri Cherniak, Manolo Gamboa Naon, David Mrugala, Helena Sari. Ben Snell's work investigates materialities and ecologies of computation. Using contemporary techniques in dialogue with traditional motifs, he situates technology as a mirror to reveal the self as a computational being. Mother (Dream #1) is a culmination of a computer's analysis of classical sculpture and its own materiality. Each machine culminated its studies by dreaming of a single form inspired by the classics. The computers are then ground to dust and shaped into its respective dream, consummating its physical and digital existence into one.
