Bio

Vitória Cribb, known as LOUQUAI is the daughter of a Haitian father and Brazilian mother born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She studies Industrial design and the core of her LOUQUAI project is digital art with a focus on exploring the convergence between the immateriality of new media and their relationship to physical and tactile media. Her works bring a surreal aesthetic with reflections, questions and narratives referring to the present and the past. At the moment the artist explores body-related themes in a society where black people are viewed as digital bodies - always reduced, exploited, manipulated and discarded as a file or software.

About: Internal Conflicts’ is about understanding the importance of self-love from the perspective of intimate conflicts, without escape. It is about deciphering our need for constant search for unconditional, personal love in another self. Another me, this one, who maintains our sense of self-admiration. Another self that possesses all the characteristics, qualities and features hitherto designed by other people, which are not part of the essence of my own true self, our own self. In this individual immersion, I dive into the roots of what haunts me, shapes and defines me in the behavioral ambit. Reading the confusion of thoughts in my system produced by the action of external bodies helps me understand the processing of my emotions. I keep on striving to untie my true self and not necessarily love it, but allow it to be free, true, and unlocked.
