Curators’ Foreword

In light of the second CADAF, MoCDA has been asked by the team behind the fair to participate in the curatorial effort. We are honored to help drive and develop the market for digital and new media art and open it up to new paths.

For CADAF Miami 2019, MoCDA considered the vast diversity within the community of digital art. Not only are the artists and creators spread across the globe, but first and foremost, they all come from different backgrounds. Many of them have connections to industries that are not commonly represented within the traditional art world. We believe that this is one of the many strongholds of the community.

Furthermore, the quality of the community was a pivotal and natural point in the selection process. MoCDA believes that the community has a very high level of quality which deserves to be showcased to a wider audience and to be gathered around.

We focussed on selecting works that were representative of the current digital art scene, often introducing a bold and creative element within the work of art. When visiting the fair expect to interact with artists who are experimenting with new media and are encouraging their audience to take part in their world. The display and interactivity with the audience is a key element which we felt was pivotal at this point in time in the digital art world.

Whilst both diversity and quality might seem to be two very simple points within a curation process, MoCDA believes that this is exactly what needs to be displayed in an art fair like CADAF as it is a new initiative to celebrate digital and new media art. Digital and new media art are starting to reach further, and it is initiatives like this that will help grow the community. We at MoCDA are honored to be a part of it.
